Emergent Media’s Original Video Series “The Hype” Honored for Video & Film in the 29th Annual Webby Awards

Emergent Media is proud to announce that its exclusive, creator-led original video series, “The Hype,” has been honored in the Video & Film category in the 29th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet. IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award Winners, is comprised of Internet industry experts including Todd Kaplan, Chief Marketing Officer at Kraft Heinz; Stephan Pretorius, Chief Technology Officer, WPP; Marine Notté, Head of International TV at Hulu; Jay Shetty, Host of On Purpose; Kimberly E. “The Hype” debuted in May 2023 as a monthly original video series on Emergent’s California Love channel. Hosted by creator Jake Toohey, each 60-second episode dives into a popular California attraction, destination, or activity and shows the audience whether it’s worth “the hype.” Over 24 episodes, our intrepid host has explored Hearst Castle, trekked through the super bloom, eaten his way through Downtown Disney, and experienced the US Open of Surfing in partnership with Pacifico® and Constellation Brands.

In “Wild About Florida,” a duo of adventurous, engaging video creators explores the wilder sides of Florida, from snorkeling with manatees in Crystal River to horseback riding in Ocala to catching spiny lobsters in Biscayne Bay. From a strategic perspective, the series is rooted in insights gleaned from an analysis of VISIT FLORIDA’s social media, which indicated a strong audience interest in adventure, nature, and wildlife.

The campaign, which runs from August through October, kicks off with a custom edition of Paradise’s popular Expert City Guide editorial series, fine-tuned to focus on adventure, action sports, music, and nightlife in Denver. The next phase of the campaign targets key SoCal markets with a social-first guide to fall outdoor adventures in Southern California running on Golden State and a custom episode of the fan-favorite creator-led video series, “The Hype,” on California Love. In the episode, the creator/host will attend the 2024 U.S. Open of Surfing, sponsored by Pacifico, and take audiences along for the experience. The episode will be cross-posted between California Love and Surfers channels to maximize impressions.

The Emergent-Pacifico partnership concludes with a second Paradise takeover highlighting the popular Pacifico “Yappy Hour” concept in key markets across the country. Instagram posts and sponsored editorial will engage dog lovers and showcase the best places to enjoy Pacifico with a four-legged friend. Each element of the three-month campaign adheres to Legal Drinking Age (LDA) standards.
