The series is designed to encourage people to explore the state and experience Florida and American history.
In partnership with VISIT FLORIDA, Emergent Media is thrilled to announce a new docuseries, “America 250: A Portrait of Florida,” to celebrate the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States. Emergent Media produced the seven-episode cinematic docuseries spotlighting Florida’s role in shaping American history. Each episode highlights a unique destination in the Sunshine State—from the cobblestone streets of St. Augustine to the launchpads of Cape Canaveral—uncovering the landmarks, cultures, and defining moments that have shaped the state’s diverse heritage. Together, the series paints a rich portrait of Florida as a cultural and historical cornerstone of the nation.
Produced on behalf of the state’s Semiquincentennial Advisory Commission’s America 250 commemorations, the series highlights St. Augustine, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Cape Canaveral, Key West and the Everglades, Miami, and Tampa, with each destination presenting a compelling portrait of Florida’s enduring influence on the American story. To produce the series, Emergent’s production team documented 34 historical sites and interviewed nearly three dozen historians, park rangers, cultural experts, political figures, and more. Seamlessly weaving together present-day scenes and historical footage, each of the seven episodes ranges between 13 and 22 minutes and showcases the power of finely crafted, long-form storytelling.
“As a longstanding creative and production partner for VISIT FLORIDA, it was an honor to collaborate on this project and shine the spotlight on Florida’s impact, influence, and contributions to America’s story during such a significant milestone as America 250,” says Jeff Honea, Executive Creative Director at Emergent Media.
Three episodes are already available to watch on VISIT FLORIDA’s America 250 Playlist on YouTube and at America250FL.com with new episodes being released every two weeks leading up to July 4.
